Over time, I began to see a recurring and concerning pattern: patients with chronic illnesses like diabetes, hypertension, or autoimmune conditions often returned with worsening health and longer medication lists—but not lasting relief. Many struggled with side effects, or couldn’t stay compliant because the medications simply made them feel worse. Unfortunately, the conventional system offers little time to dig deeper. Physicians are pressured to see more patients in less time, and as a result, many are left prescribing treatments without being able to uncover the root causes.

The healthcare system, as it stands, is not built to allow for true healing. Conventional medical education also doesn’t include the in-depth training in nutrition, gut health, detoxification, and lifestyle medicine that functional and integrative approaches provide. Recognizing this gap, hence that is why I pursued a fellowship in Integrative Health and Medicine to offer patients a new path forward.

My goal is simple but profound: to help patients feel better—not just manage disease, but improve their lives by getting to the source of what’s holding them back from wellness. If the root cause can’t be fully reversed, we aim to reduce flare-ups, minimize medication burden when possible, and restore quality of life through sustainable, whole-person care.

These reasons all led me to opening up RootCare | MD where we attempt to perform a root cause analysis of diseases.
